Save a HEIC image as PNG

Choose your HEIC image, select Convert to PNG and download after checking the preview. PNG output is selected automatically. Ordinary supported images keep their original dimensions. For high-resolution tiled photos, explicitly choose PNG dimensions up to 4 megapixels, or use HEIC to JPG for original resolution. The result panel shows both file sizes and the output dimensions.

Expect a larger file

PNG stores the decoded pixels without further lossy compression. A photographic PNG can be much larger than its HEIC original. It cannot restore detail lost in HEIC compression. Use HEIC to JPG instead when compatibility and a smaller photo matter more.

Transparency and orientation

Supported alpha channels stay transparent in PNG. The shared HEIC decoder applies the photo’s supported crop, rotation and mirror properties. Conversion produces an ordinary 8-bit image; HDR, depth data, Live Photo video and original camera metadata are not retained.

Your image stays with you

UploadMint processes supported images in your browser. Your image is not uploaded to a processing server, and no account is needed. Closing the page clears the working image.

Good to know

Does PNG keep all the quality of my HEIC?

PNG does not add lossy compression to the decoded 8-bit pixels. It does not preserve the HEIC container, HDR information or every colour-profile feature, and cannot recover detail already lost in the original.

Will my transparent HEIC stay transparent?

Yes, when the source contains an alpha channel supported by the decoder. Ordinary iPhone photographs are usually opaque; converting them to PNG does not remove their background.

Why might a large iPhone photo be rejected?

Full-resolution PNG for high-resolution HEIC/HEIF photos is temporarily disabled pending device memory testing. Qualified SDR tile grids up to 50 megapixels can be explicitly resized to PNG output up to 4 megapixels; choose JPG to keep original resolution. Ordinary HEIC-to-PNG conversions retain the 25-megapixel native and 24-megapixel compatibility limits. Unsupported tile layouts, alpha grids and colour profiles may still be rejected. Changing the download file-size target does not reduce input decoding memory, and your photo is never silently resized.
