Saving a JPG as WebP cannot restore lost detail or remove its existing compression artefacts. WebP can offer a useful smaller alternative, but check that the destination accepts it.
WebP supports transparency and is useful for modern websites. Some forms and older software still require JPG or PNG, so check the accepted formats before downloading.
The tool shows the detected original format, so you can confirm it is JPG. It also accepts other supported still-image formats. Renaming a file extension alone is not a conversion; UploadMint decodes and re-encodes the image.
